Who are the DESERT MORAYS?

The Desert Morays were a group of scuba divers who live in the INLAND EMPIRE (Riverside-Hemet area) who meet once a month to plan and discuss dives. Our group currently does not meet in the area. Check out our most recent newsletter below for the time and location.

What exactly do the DESERT MORAYS do?

Basically we dive. We plan group dives to the ocean or plan group vacations to major dive sites throughout the northern hemisphere.When dive conditions are bad, sometimes the group will throw an ocean themed get together.

UPCOMING EVENTS

• A few of The DESERT MORAYS are planning on an exotic summer dive trip, this time to FIJI, with tentative travel between June 16th to June 25th, 2001...We are staying at the Garden Island Resort on Taveuni,for seven days all inclusive(roundtrip air from LAX, six days diving, meals, air transfers, etc.)for only $1857 pp/do!!!Time is running out so if anyone is interested contact Rhonda Shumway at TERRAMAR TRAVEL (909)-929-0033
• Has anyone been diving this month? Come to the next meeting and tell us about it.
• The DESERT MORAYS have become whitewater junkies!!? The Morays returned again this year to the Kern River rapids to run 'em again! We camped out at Sandy Flats during the second weekend of July, and once again rode the rapids!!! Quite a few were "flushed" this year, but all returned safely.
• DIVE THE YUKON! the Yukon is now officially a shipwreck! This artificial reef accidentally sunk a day early, with the crew on board having to abandon ship! Although it did not sink the way they planned, it is divable at "wreck Alley" . More information on the YUKON can be found at their site. Stay tuned.....
• COZUMEL - The trip to Cozumel was FANTASTIC! 19 members of our group visited this Island in 1998 and we had a wonderful time diving and sightseeing,along with side trips to Chichen Itza and Xcaret. Three of our members recieved their PADI certification while at the Island. ANDANTE TRAVEL arranged our travel plans, allowing DIVE PARADISE to provide our dive package, and they did a fantastic job! Stay tuned as we plan or next exotic dive trip..........
